About eco

ECO was originally known as the National Association of Environmental Professionals (NAEP). NAEP played a crucial role in implementing the environmental service fee, which contributes $1 per semester from tuition toward environmental projects, starting in 2003.

ECO aims to continue this legacy by collaborating with the Environmental Service Council (ESC) and providing resources for our members to develop their own proposals.

Our mission

The Environmental Conservation Organization (ECO) is a diverse group of students united by a shared appreciation for the environment. Through both our intentions and our actions, we strive to promote progress towards a sustainable global future.

Our mission is to advocate for sustainability in all its forms while focusing on minimizing local and environmental degradation through education, activism, and community service. We aim to create a positive impact in San Marcos by protecting and preserving our natural environment.

We seek to raise environmental awareness among Texas State students through outreach initiatives, field trips, and guest speakers from various environmental fields. Additionally, we provide a range of service opportunities that offer fun and hands-on ways to get involved in the local community and make a difference.
